Women's Tennis to Play for Singles Titles at SEC Coaches Fall Classic

The University of Florida women's tennis team will compete for the Flight A and B singles titles at the SEC Coaches Fall Classic after Megan Alexander, Csilla Borsanyi and Lolita Frangulyan won their respective semifinal matches Saturday at the Peachtree City Tennis Center.
UF's Alexander and Borsanyi, both freshmen, will square off against each other in the Flight A final on Sunday, while Frangulyan plays Vanderbilt's Amanda Taylor for the Flight B title.
Alexander advanced to her first collegiate singles final after defeating Arkansas's Ela Kaluder, 6-4, 6-4 in the semifinals, while Borsanyi outlasted Auburn's Fani Chifchieva, 7-5, 3-6, 6-2 to have a chance to play for her first collegiate title.
Frangulyan downed Vanderbilt's Catherine Newman, 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 in the semifinal round to advance. Earlier on Saturday, the Gator junior paired with Borsanyi to earn a solid 8-1 victory against Georgia's Monika Dancevic and Lara Fakhoury consolation doubles action.
“We competed so well today,” UF head coach Roland Thornqvist said. “We were so much more poised and confident on the court than we were last week at the Regional Championship. We were willing to battle in the long points and that was great to see.”
Also in action on Saturday was the Gator doubles team of Whitney Benik and Nina Suvak, who lost their consolation semifinals match at the ITA National Indoor Championships at the Racquet Club of Columbus, falling to Notre Dame's top-seeded Christian Thompson and Catrina Thompson, 8-5
