Gators Grab No. 1 Spot In AP Poll

The University of Florida men's basketball team tops the Associated Press Preseason Poll, released on Monday, after receiving 63 of a possible 72 first place votes. Florida sits atop both preseason polls, as the Gators were also an overwhelming choice in the coaches' poll, announced on Oct. 27.
It is the first time UF has ever opened the season in the top 5 in the AP poll.
North Carolina grabbed the second spot followed by Kansas, Pittsburgh, and LSU. Florida takes on both Kansas and LSU during the 2006-07 regular season.
Other Florida opponents in the preseason top 25 include No. 7 Ohio State, No. 11 Alabama, No. 22 Kentucky and No. 25 Tennessee.
