Wynn Secures PR in Hammer to Open Disney Invitational

University of Florida women's track and field senior Jyn Wynn (Douglasville, Ga.) notched a personal record in the hammer throw on the opening day of the inaugural Walt Disney World Invitational, which is being held at the Track and Field Complex on the campus of the Walt Disney Wide World of Sports.
Wynn was the medalist in the hammer, throwing 61.37m/201-4 in the first competition of the 2006 outdoor slate. The mark surpassed the regional standard of 54.15m/177-8 by nearly 25 feet and is the sixth-highest mark on the all-time school list.
The lone event on the schedule for the Gators on Friday will be the pole vault competition, beginning at noon EST. Check back to www.GatorZone.com for continued updates throughout the course of the three-day meet.
