Every Named Semifinalist For The 2006 Ben Hogan Award

Senior Matt Every (Daytona Beach, Fla.) was named one of 10 semifinalists for the 2006 Ben Hogan Award on Wednesday afternoon by the Colonial Country, Friends of Golf and the Golf Coaches Association of America.
The Ben Hogan Award is presented annually to the nation's top male golfer competing in NCAA Division I, II or II, NAIA or junior college over a 12 month span. This year's semifinalist include Ryan Baca of Baylor, Roberto Castro of Georgia Tech, Rhys Davies of East Tennessee State, Andres Gonzales of UNLV, Brian Harman of Georgia, Anthony Kim of Oklahoma, Chris Kirk of Georgia, Pablo Martin of Oklahoma State and Kyle Reifers of Wake Forest.
Every is currently ranked seventh in Golfweek Magazine's poll of top collegiate golfers and leads the team with a 71.92 stroke average. Through 27 rounds this season, Every has carded a score of par-or-lower 18 times. He has also finished among the top-10 in six of the Gators nine tournaments this year. He took home the individual medal at the Inverness Invitational in Toledo, Ohio to open the season in September.
The 2006 Ben Hogan Award committee will announce three finalists on May 2. The three finalists will attend The Hogan Award banquet on May 13 at the Colonial Country Club. The Gators will wrap-up the regular season at the United States Collegiate Championship at the Golf Club of Georgia, April 10-11.
