Martin Advances In 110m Hurdles At Word Junior Championships

University of Florida sophomore Dennis Martin (Anderson, S.C.) moved on to the semifinals of the 110m hurdles on Friday at the IAAF Track & Field World Junior Championships.
Martin, who owns the second-fastest junior time in the world this year, clocked a time of 14.04 to finish second in his heat to Russia's Vladimir Zhukov., who won the heat in 13.93 Martin's mark was the 17th-best of the day with 24 athletes advancing to Saturday's semifinals, which will be run in three heats of eight. The final for the event will take place on Sunday.
Martin and Gator teammate Willie Perry (Lenoir, N.C.) are also candidates to take part in Team USA's 4x100m relay. The semifinals for that event will also be held Saturday with the final slated for Sunday.
The World Junior Championships, which boasts nearly 1,500 athletes who are 19 years old or younger from more than 180 countries, continues through Sunday.
