Men?s Golfer Horschel Eliminated From Match Play At Western Amateur

University of Florida rising sophomore Billy Horschel (Grant, Fla.) bowed out of the 104th Western Amateur this afternoon with a 2 and 1 loss to Pablo Martin of Malaga, Spain. Horschel was the lone Gator to make the tournament's Sweet 16.
The match was all square through 12 holes, but Martin, the 2006 Jack Nicklaus Award winner from Oklahoma State, was able to seize the victory over the remaining six holes.
Defending champion Jamie Lovemark (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.) and 2006 Western Amateur Individual Medalist Won Joon Lee (New South Wales, Australia) also lost their opening matches on Saturday. Lee tied the course record at Point O'Woods Golf Club on Friday with a round of 61 (-9).
