Freeman Memorial (Day 1 of 3)
W-Tennis: Frigid Temperature Limits Play at Freeman Memorial
Friday, January 12, 2007 | Women's Tennis
With a rare winter storm moving into the valley and temperatures dipping into the 30s, the schedule for the opening day of the Freeman Memorial Women's Tennis Championships was limited to just one round of doubles on Friday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
Florida's results from day one showed the Gators' preference for the warmer weather of the Sunshine State, as both UF doubles teams fell in first round action.
The freshman pair of Megan Alexander (Dallas, Texas) and Anastasia Revzina (Moscow, Russia) lost to Stanford's Lindsay Burdette and Jessica Nguyen, 8-3, while the Gator tandem of Csilla Borsanyi (Hungary) and Lolita Frangulyan (Bradenton, Fla.) dropped an 8-6 decision to Arizona State's Jessica Leitch and Sabrina Capannolo.
Weather permitting, Saturday's action gets underway with doubles at 2 p.m. ET (11 a.m. PST) and then follow with a round of singles, where all four Gators will compete in the Flight 1 draw.
