No. 5 VB To Host South Carolina and Visit Arkansas
Tuesday, October 9, 2007 | Volleyball
The fifth-ranked University of Florida volleyball team will split this week between home and the road, welcoming South Carolina on Wednesday and traveling to Arkansas for a Friday night showdown in Fayetteville.
Sun Sports and FSN Florida will team up to televise Wednesday's match, which is slated for 7 p.m. ET, while WRUF-AM 850 and www.GatorZone.com will provide audio coverage of the action. Sunday's match is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET, and will also be televised live on Sun Sports, with Rock 104 set to carry the radio broadcast.
A victory over the Gamecocks would move the Gators' record to 16-0 on the year, matching the 1987 squad for the second-best start in school history. UF leads the all-time series, 36-7, including a 31-2 record under head coach Mary Wise.
UF will also be looking to add to history against Arkansas on Friday night, when the Gators put their 18-match road winning streak on the line. That run is already tied for the ninth-longest in NCAA history, and a victory over the Lady Backs will tie the school record for longest road winning streak, a 19-match streak that was put together by the 1996 team.
Fans who leave a business card at the O'Connell Center ticket office on Wednesday night will receive $1 admission, plus be entered for a chance to win tickets to the 2007 NCAA Regional in Gainesville. Selected concessions items will also be sold for $1 while Florida and USC are in action.
