The University of Florida men's and women's swimming and diving teams will split up this weekend as the swimmers will head to the Alabama Invitational in Tuscaloosa and the divers will be in action at the Georgia Diving Invitational in Athens. Both meets will begin tomorrow and continue through Sunday.
Florida will face Southeastern Conference rivals Alabama, Auburn and South Carolina, along with Missouri, Indianapolis and IUPUI. The invitational will mark the second time this season that the Gators have faced Missouri at an invitational, the first being two weeks ago at the Purdue Invitational. Florida's divers will face Georgia, Virginia, Northwestern, Harvard and West Virginia. This is the second time the divers are facing Georgia and Virginia. The Gators saw Virginia in the first meet of the season on October 11 and faced Georgia on October 25.
On the swimming side, the Florida women have faced its three SEC rivals a combined 69 times in a dual meet setting. They have never faced Missouri, Indianapolis or IUPUI in a regular season dual meet. The men have faced the field a combined 98 times and hold an overall record of 70-28. As is the case with the women, the Gators have only faced the SEC teams that will be in attendance.
The fifth ranked men's team currently sits at 5-1 on the year with a perfect 2-0 record in SEC action. The seventh ranked women are also 5-1, sitting at 1-1 in the SEC.
The Gators will be without certain swimmers this weekend, as 15 have qualified for the U.S. Short Course Nationals in Atlanta, Ga. Nine men and six women will represent Florida at the meet.
