Women's Golf Recruit Watts Contending in Coral Gables

Watts improved her score by two strokes after ending Thursday's frame with a 73 and trails leaders Victoria Tanco (Argentina), Florentyna Parker (England) and Thompson by just two shots.
She netted four birdies Friday to finish with a 1-over par 71, keeping pace with a diverse field that includes Coral Springs native Alexis Thompson.
Watts has been competing on the FCWT (Future Collegians World Tour) since 2004, finishing in the top 10 in five events she participated in for the 2006-07 slate. She captured a title to conclude the 2007 FCWT season by winning the Laura Diaz Girls National Championship. She is joined in head coach Jill Briles-Hinton's signing class of '08 by Evan Jensen (Belleaire, Fla.).
Watts and Jensen were both homeschooled and are ranked among the top 25 recruits in the country according to the Golfweek Class of 2008. Jensen is rated No. 12 and Watts came in at No. 21.
