Alabama A&M Tops UNC Asheville in State Farm Opener

Alabama A&M defeated UNC Asheville, 66-63, to kickoff the 2007 State Farm Classic at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center. The two teams combined for 37 turnovers, 18 steals and 41 fouls in the opening contest.
AAMU were led by senior Felicia Drummond's double-double, totaling 19 points and 11 rebounds. AAMU also had double figures from sophomore Katrich Williams with 15 points. UNC Asheville was paced by senior Ashton Barton and junior Jessica Monroe with 15 and 10 points, respectively.
The winner of the Holy Cross/Florida nightcap at will face AAMU Saturday for the tournament title while UNC Asheville will take on the loser. The first game of Day Two will tip-off at 4:30 p.m. EST, followed by the final contest at 7 p.m. EST.
