The Florida soccer team was able to defeat the Gator volleyball team to claim the overall title at the fourth annual Spring Sports Challenge Wednesday afternoon.
The Spring Sports Challenge signals the end of the spring strength and conditioning period for the two teams. Both squads got together in a ferocious test of their strength, speed and agility in 10 different grueling events.
The soccer team topped the volleyball team in seven of the 10 contests with the soccer players claiming victories in the Water Jug Carry, the Tire Rope Pull, the Rope Climb, Serpentine, the 300-Yard Shuttle Relay, the Tug-O-War and the Obstacle Course.
The volleyball team handed soccer defeats in the Tire Flip, the Gator Stone Stack and the Medicine Ball Toss.
The Spring Sports Challenge is the brainchild of soccer strength and conditioning coach Karen Werth and volleyball strength and conditioning coach Matt DeLancey.
