Gators Travel to Des Moines, Iowa for Drake Relays

The University of Florida women's track and field returns to action on April 26-28 at the 98th annual Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa. The first scheduled women's event in which the Gators will compete is the 10,000m run on April 26, which is slated to begin at 5 p.m. ET at Drake Stadium.
The Drake Relays will serve as the final competition for the Gators before the SEC meet. For the season, the Gators have earned a total of 32 qualifying marks for the NCAA East Regional Championships, which UF will host in Gainesville on May 25-26. Those 32 marks have been posted by 19 UF athletes in 14 events.
Last weekend, a pair of pole vaulters traveled to the National Training Center Spring Fling on April 21 in Clermont, Fla. Freshmen Lori Bowen (Surfside, Fla.) and Lauren Menke (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) both posted personal-bests and regional qualifying marks that rank amongst the top-10 bests in school history. Bowen won the event and tied the fifth-best pole vault in UF history with a mark of 3.91m/12-10.0, while Menke finished as the runner-up and tied the 10th-best vault in school history by clearing the bar at 3.80m/12-5.50. For Bowen, it marks her fourth regional mark and second win on the year. Menke earned a regional qualifying mark for the first time in her career.
