Criscione Paces Gators On First Day of Drake Relays

Sophomore Jeremy Criscione (Interlachen, Fla.) notched the eighth-fastest time in the Southeastern Conference this season in the 5,000m to lead the University of Florida men's track and field team at the 98th annual Drake Relays at Drake Stadium on Thursday.
Criscione finished 10th with a time of 14:18.45 in the 5,000m – the eighth-best mark in the SEC this season. It was the second-fastest clocking of his career in the event and 17 seconds better than his seasonal best entering the meet. Junior Steven Hassen (Ocala, Fla.) also took part in the race and finished 14th after crossing the finish line in the second-fastest time of his career (14:42.26).
The Drake Relays will continue Friday before wrapping up Saturday. The bulk of the Florida men's team will compete at the California Collegiate Challenge Friday and Saturday. Senior All-American Mike Morrison (Willingboro, N.J.) will also take part in the Penn Relays long jump on Friday for the men.
