Florida WT&F Freshman Wins Under-20 Long Jump At 2007 CARIFTA Games

University of Florida track and field freshman Shara Proctor (The Valley) competed for her country of Anguilla at the 2007 Caribbean Free Trade Association Games winning the under-20 long jump at the event for second-consecutive year.
Proctor won this year's under-20 long jump by posting a leap of 6.17m/20-3. In 2006, she won the same event by jumping the same distance, and in 2005, Proctor recorded a personal-best long jump of 6.24m/20-5.75, to set an Anguillian national record.
Proctor's collegiate-best long jump of 6.23m/20-5.25 came during the indoor season at the Arkansas Last Chance meet on March 2. She's also off to a fast start in the outdoor season, after posting a regional qualifying long jump of 6.10m/20-0.25 at the Jim Click Shoot-Out on March 24.
Florida travels to Arizona for the second time this season to compete at the Sun Angel Classic in Tempe, Ariz. on April 13-14, and Mesa Classic in Mesa, Ariz. on April 13.
