Meyer, Gators Earn the 2006 People's National Championship Trophy

Fanspoll.com allows college football fans to sign on every week and make their picks for the top 25 teams in the nation. If they are successful at forecasting winners and losers each week, they are elevated to an all- star selection committee that determines the annual People's National Champion along with 19 other awards.
The Gators topped the final Fanspoll.com tally after capturing the 2006 BCS National Championship with a 41-14 victory over No. 1 Ohio State on Jan. 8, in Glendale, Ariz. Boise State took runner-up after its win over Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl, followed by Ohio State and Wisconsin.
Auburn earned the poll's inaugural selection after going undefeated in 2004, followed by Texas taking home the crown after the 2005 season.
