Former Gators Clark and Clement Advance At World Outdoors
Sunday, August 26, 2007 | Track and Field
Former University of Florida athletes Hazel Clark and Kerron Clement qualified for the semifinal rounds of the 800m and the 400mH, respectively, on Saturday at the 2007 IAAF World Outdoor Championships in Osaka, Japan.
Clark stopped the clock in 2:01.61 to qualify for Sunday's semifinal round. She finished fifth in her heat, which tied for the highest amount of advancing athletes, to move on as one of the six fastest times produced by runners who did not automatically qualify for semifinals.
Clement earned an automatic bid to tomorrow's semifinal with a mark of 49.07, good for second in heat three. The owner of the world's second-fastest time in 2007, Clement is looking to medal in the 400mH after missing out on the stand by .08 in 2005.
