University of Florida men's and women's swim teams completed the final leg of the summer tour, competing at both the World University Games in Bangkok and International Swim Meet in Japan.
Kim Larson (Longwood, Fla.) swam to a fourth place finish in the 1500 meter freestyle at the World University Games, besting her previous top time of 17:14.27 with an impressive 16:39. For Larson it was her best swim of the summer as well, as she did not swim at this year's National Championships in Indianapolis.
Larson also turned in an eighth place finish in the 800 freestyle with a personal best time of 8:44 in the event. She was joined at the World University Games by Roland Rudolph (Budapest, Hungary) and former Gator Stephanie Pratt.
At the 2007 International Swim Meet in Japan UF was well represented on the men's side. Clark Burckle (Louisville, Ky.) turned in a personal best time of 2:15.83 in the 200 meter breast stroke B-Final to swim into sixth place, placing him 14th overall in the event. Burckle also took the fifth spot in the 400 meter individual medley final. His time of 4:19.39 marked another personal best for the young swimmer.
Dustin McLarty (Deland, Fla.) took first in the 400 IM B-Final with a time of 4:22.60 to place him ninth overall. His time was just shy of his personal best 4:22.52 that he set at the 2007 U.S. Nationals meet earlier this month. McLarty also finished eighth in the 400 meter freestyle to place him 16th overall with a time of 3:57.98, a personal best for him.
