Former University of Florida golfer Scott Dunlap won the Nationwide Tour's Panama Movistar Championship at the Panama Golf Club on Sunday.
Dunlap, a 1985 UF graduate, captured his first tour event since 2004 with a 3-under 277 in the season-opening tournament. He carded a final round 71 posting scores of 65 on Thursday, 68 on Friday and 73 on Saturday.
"To win on this golf course is very rewarding," said Dunlap. "This essentially gives me a two-year exemption. This sets me up for the rest of the year and gets me about halfway to earning my PGA TOUR card for next year."
The victory marked the second Nationwide Tour win of Dunlap's career and earned him a check of $108,000 after finishing 76th on the money list last year with $79,830.
Dunlap, who resides in Duluth, Ga., has earned more than $3 million playing on the PGA Tour and Nationwide Tour since turning pro in 1985. He was an All-America and All-SEC selection on Florida's 1985 SEC Championship squad.
Former UF All-American Matt Every finished in 12th-place on Sunday after firing rounds of 67-73-67-76. His 3-over par total of 283 marked his best finish in 12 PGA Tour and Nationwide Tour starts. Every earned a career-best paycheck of $13,800.
Every is one five Florida players to earn All-America honors four times during his career. In 2006, he became the first player in school history to win the prestigious Ben Hogan Award, presented annually to the nation's top amateur golfer.
Meanwhile, former Gator Camilo Villegas finished tied for 13th in the PGA Tour's Buick Invitational on Sunday with a four-day total of 285 (-3).
