University of Florida junior athlete Brandon James (St. Augustine, Fla.) was selected to the Sporting News Today's Mid-Season All-American Team, as announced Friday. James is the lone representative for the Gators and is one of seven players honored from the Southeastern Conference, the most among any conference.
“James can change a game on special teams more than any player in the country,” Sporting News Today's Dave Curtis said. “Any punter that sees him deep should kick the ball into the stands.”
James, who was selected as a punt returner, currently ranks fourth in the nation with a 20.9-yard average return. He has scored two touchdowns off punt returns this season and is currently tied with Jacquez Green (1995-97) for the school record for career punt returns for a touchdown with four.
