Florida Soccer Places Two on ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Teams

The University of Florida placed two on 2008 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III teams for soccer. Senior Megan Kerns is a member of the second team and junior Angela Napolitano is on the district third team.
Kerns owns a 3.83 grade point average in exercise physiology. She leads UF this season with 10 goals, five game-winning goals and 27 points – all career highs. Kerns provided both goals in the 2-1 OT win versus Georgia in the Southeastern Conference opener, earning a spot on the SoccerBuzz.com Elite Team of the Week. After turning in three goals at Alabama for her first collegiate hat-trick, Kerns was named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 20 plus was a consensus selection as a forward for the three outlets that publish a national team of the week - Soccer America, TopDrawer Soccer.com and SoccerBuzz.com. This is her second appearance on the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District team, being placed on the 2006 second team. Kerns has been part of the SEC Academic Honor Roll as a sophomore and junior.
Napolitano is pursuing a degree in advertising and owns a 3.68 GPA. She is fifth among the Gators with five goals and 11 points – both collegiate bests. Napolitano scored twice versus Nebraska for the first multi-goal match of her collegiate career. She has also turned in goals versus Tennessee, Mississippi State and at Alabama. This is her first appearance on the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District team. She also earned a spot on the SEC Academic Honor Roll as a sophomore.
Next up, Florida meets South Carolina for the regular-season finale on Thursday, Oct. 30. Match time is set for 8 p.m. (ET) at the Eugene E. Stone III Stadium. The Gamecocks are 8-0-2 at home in 2008. This will be Florida's first appearance on the Fox Soccer Channel's Match of the Week (Gainesville/Ocala Cox Cable channel 255). The match can also be heard live on WRUF AM 850 or on the simulcasts on Gator Radio - Cox Channel 96/946 in Gainesville and GatorZone.com with Adam Schick covering the action.
