Football Game vs. The Citadel To Be Carried On PPV
Monday, November 10, 2008 | Football
The University of Florida and Sun Sports today announced that the Nov. 22 (1:30 p.m.) college football game between UF and The Citadel will be made available live via pay-per-view (PPV) to viewers of participating cable systems, satellite systems and commercial establishments throughout Florida.
The live PPV airing will be in addition to Sun Sports' taped presentation of the game airing during the network's Sunday morning edition of "Breakfast With the Gators" beginning at 8:30 a.m. and again Tuesday night at 11 p.m. Larry Vettel, Nat Moore and Steve Babik will provide the commentary.
Per Southeastern Conference television contracts, when an SEC team does not have its game selected by CBS, ESPN or Raycom, it is permitted to televise that game live on a statewide basis only on pay-per-view. Therefore, Sun Sports cannot air this game live on the network, but can make it available to cable/satellite systems and commercial establishments to deliver via pay-per-view.
The University Athletic Association donates proceeds from the PPV telecasts to the UF Libraries. Since 1992, the UAA has donated approximately $1 million to the UF Libraries and hurricane relief efforts through these telecasts.
Cable/satellite systems offering the game on pay-per-view will designate a channel location, separate from Sun Sports' channel, for the pay-per-view presentation. Viewers should call/contact their local cable/satellite company for further details.
NOTE: For “sports on television” listings purposes, please do not list the game as airing live on Sun Sports or "Sun PPV" – the live airing should be referenced as “PPV” only with the taped airing on Sun Sports Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. and Tuesday at 11 p.m.
