Florida junior quarterback Tim Tebow (Jacksonville, Fla.) will be attending The Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards as one of three finalists for the Maxwell Award, as announced on Monday. The winner will be revealed Thursday, Dec. 11 at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN in Lake Buena Vista at the Walt Disney World Resort in the Atlantic Dance Hall.
The Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards will feature a live presentation of nine awards, along with recipients of Disney's Wide World of Sports Spirit Award, The Home Depot Coach of the Year Award, the NCFAA Contribution to College Football Award and selections to the Walter Camp All-America team.
Tebow won the Maxwell Award last season as a sophomore and looks to become just the second player to win the award twice. John Lattner won the award in back-to-back years playing for Notre Dame in 1952 and '53.
The UF quarterback was named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week after his performance against Vanderbilt. Tebow ranks first in the SEC in passing efficiency with a rating of 175.2, fifth best in the nation. He has thrown for 2,114 yards and 22 touchdowns with only two interceptions. He has also rushed for 427 yards and 11 touchdowns on the season.
Texas Tech quarterback Graham Harrell and Texas quarterback Colt McCoy are the other finalists for the Maxwell Award, given to the nation's best all-around player.
New this year is a Web site dedicated to the show: www.espncollegefootballawards.com. The site features the latest college football awards news, including show details, previous winners, fan voting, a photo gallery and video highlights.
Florida closes out its regular season Saturday when they travel to in-state rival Florida State at 3:30 p.m. on ABC.
