The University of Florida encourages fans to a toy to donate to the Toys for Tots program before Wednesday's basketball doubleheader. The women will take on Coppin State at 5:30 p.m., and the men will face Florida Gulf Coast at 8:00 p.m.
Toys will be collected by the United States Marine Corps, on behalf of the Toys for Tots program, from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. outside of Gate 1 of the Stephen C. O'Connell Center. Fans who donate a toy of approximately $5 in value will receive a voucher to purchase 2-for-1 general admission tickets at the ticket office.
Programs such as Toys for Tots have had limited donations recently due to the current state of the economy. Gator fans are encouraged to come out and support a great program that makes such a difference in many children's lives during the holiday season.
Later in the week, fans will have the chance to donate gently used clothing before the women's basketball game vs. Florida A&M on Friday, Dec. 12 at 7:00 p.m. With a donation, fans will receive free admission for two to the women's game. Donations will taken up starting at 6:00 p.m. outside of Gate 1 of the O'Connell Center. Donations will benefit local Gainesville families.
