University of Florida rising senior Ameera Abdullah (Denver, Colo.) appeared in each of the U.S. Under-23 Women's National Team's three matches last week in La Manga, Span.
The U.S. recorded a 1-1-1 record during the week (3-1 loss versus England, 2-0 win versus Norway, 1-1 tie versus Germany) to take second in the four-team event. Germany won the tournament with its 2-0-1 record.
Abdullah contributed the assist on the tying goal versus Germany. She received the ball inside the center circle before dribbling through some German defenders. She laid the ball to Elizabeth Eng who took a touch and shot from about 15 yards into the upper left corner.
The U.S. Under-23 Women's National Team trip to Spain allowed the team to meet other national teams. Spain and Portugal are regular training sites for northern European teams looking to escape the cold. This was the first international matches of the year for the U.S. U-23s.
