No. 6 Men's Swimming Heads to SEC Championships

The third ranked women and sixth ranked men's swimming and diving teams will head to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, for the 2008 Southeastern Conference Championships. The meet will be held at the University of Alabama and will open competition on Wednesday February 20.
The Gators, who hold a 3-2 record on the men's side and 5-1 record on the women's side in the SEC, will travel 20 players on each team to the meet.
Florida currently holds 16 SEC Championships on the women's side and 33 on the men, the most of any school for either the men or women that will compete this week in Tuscaloosa. Florida's last SEC Championship came in 2002 for the women and 1993 for the men. Auburn has won the last six championships on the men's side and four of the last five on the women's.
Last season, the Gators brought home a combined eight individual SEC Championships. Bradley Ally (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) and Shaune Fraser (George Town, Cayman Islands) each won two events for the Gators while Caroline Burckle (Louisville, Ky.) won the only championship for the women. Burckle, along with Leah Retrum (Columbus, Ind.) are the only two women that hold an SEC Championship. Retrum joined Burckle on the SEC, NCAA and U.S. Open Record breaking 800 free relay team in 2005.
Preliminaries will take place in the morning with finals kicking off during the evening session. The schedule is as follows:
