Calathes To Try Out For Greek National Team

Heralded University of Florida freshman guard Nick Calathes (Casselberry, Fla.) has been invited to try out for the Greek National Team in preparation for the Olympics this summer.
Calathes, a third-generation Greek-American received an invitation to try out for the Olympic squad and will depart for Greece on June 25. If he makes the squad, he would take part in the Olympic qualifying games in Athens from July 14-20.
The University of Florida has never had an Olympian in men's basketball.
Calathes was the co-SEC Freshman of the Year and the SEC's Newcomer of the Year in 2007-08, averaging 15.3 points per game, while setting a UF record with 221 assists. He led the SEC in assists per game at 6.1 per contest.
