Florida Football Draft Prospects Ready For Weekend

After completing their collegiate careers and training throughout the spring, several Florida Gators look forward to this weekend's NFL Draft. The 2008 NFL Draft begins Saturday, April 26, in New York City at 3 p.m. ET. The first and second rounds will be conducted on Saturday with the remaining rounds beginning at 10 a.m. on Sunday. ESPN will televise the event live.

Florida Football Draft Notes:
Thirty-seven Gator players have been selected in the opening round of the NFL Draft. A breakdown on those selections includes nine running backs, eight defensive linemen, five wide receivers, four offensive linemen, four linebackers, four defensive backs, and three quarterbacks.
Florida has had a first-round pick in eight of the last 10 years and 17 of the last 23.
UF had at least 40 players chosen in the NFL Draft for the decades of 1950, 1970, 1980 and 1990. UF has already had 44 selections from the years 2000-07. The total is one shy of the school record for choices in a decade (45, 1990s).
Florida has had five defensive linemen drafted under head coach Urban Meyer.
A Florida receiver has been drafted in 12 of the last 14 years as 16 have gone during the stretch.
Florida led the nation in 2007 with nine former players selected in the draft.
