UF Senior Eleanor Tucker Named To SEC Women's Golf Community Service Team
Monday, April 28, 2008 | Women's Golf
University of Florida senior Eleanor Tucker (Wilson, N.C.) has been named to the fourth annual Southeastern Conference Women's Golf Community Service Team, the league office announced.
Tucker is one of 12 student-athletes across the league who have been named to the squad. The SEC sponsors Community Service Teams for all 20 league sponsored sports. The Community Service Team looks to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to their community in superior service efforts.
Tucker has contributed over 200 hours the past year to Street Light, a program at the Shands Children's Hospital in Gainesville. She has served as a mentor to children at the hospital, and she has helped raise money and spearheaded a baseball tournament and home run derby that contributed all earnings to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
Tucker is an active participant in Habitat for Humanity, and she has also volunteered as a mentor and tutor to kids at several schools throughout the Gainesville area.
Tucker has made three starts this season and earned her best finish in a tie for 11th at the Gainesville Shootout. Tucker's low round of the season was a 67 on the second day of play at the SunTrust Lady Gator Invitational.
