Women's Tennis Quartet Selected for NCAA Singles & Doubles Championships

The University of Florida's Csilla Borsanyi (Hungary) and Julia Cohen (Philadelphia, Pa.) were selected to compete in the NCAA Women's Tennis Singles Championships, while the pair of Megan Alexander (Dallas, Texas) and Marrit Boonstra (The Netherlands) was named to the NCAA Doubles Championship, the NCAA Committee announced Wednesday.
Borsanyi, a sophomore who is ranked No. 33 nationally, will be making her second appearance in the NCAA Singles Championship after advancing to the quarterfinals her rookie season and collecting All-America honors. Cohen is a freshman, who is ranked No. 29 in the country and plays the No. 1 singles position in the dual match lineup this year for the sixth-ranked Gators.
The doubles team of Alexander and Boonstra are the No. 8-ranked pair in the country and sport a 13-1 record together, including a 7-0 record versus other nationally-ranked teams.
The individual draws for both will be revealed by Tuesday, May 21 with action in the 64-player singles tournament beginning on Wednesday, May 22, while the 32-team doubles event gets underway on Thursday, May 23 at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla.
Automatic qualification into the Division I singles championships was awarded to any conference with one or more eligible singles players ranked in the ITA Top 125 for eligible/entered singles players. For conferences with more than one singles player within the ITA Top 125 eligible/entered singles players, the subcommittee applied the NCAA selection criteria to determine which student-athlete is the automatic qualifier from those conferences.
Automatic qualification into the Division I doubles championships was awarded to any conference with one or more eligible doubles teams ranked in the ITA Top 60 for eligible/entered doubles teams. For conferences with more than one doubles team within the ITA Top 60 eligible/entered doubles teams, the subcommittee applied the NCAA selection criteria to determine which doubles team is the automatic qualifier from those conferences.
