Baseball's Brandon McArthur Sidelined
Monday, April 7, 2008 | Baseball
The University of Florida baseball program announced on Monday that senior Brandon McArthur (Seffner, Fla.) will be out indefinitely with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee that was diagnosed by Dr. Michael Moser. The Gators' starting first baseman was injured on April 2 against North Florida and ranks fourth on the squad in batting average (.314), RBI (24) and doubles (six). McArthur was on a nine-game hitting streak and had a .361 SEC clip when he was hurt in the bottom of the fifth inning against the Ospreys.
"This is disappointing news for Brandon, his family and our team," head coach Kevin O'Sullivan said. "He is one of our leaders and was off to a tremendous start for us this year. We are hopeful that Brandon can continue working with John Barrett and our training staff to get better."
