Bowden & Dotson Selected to SEC Academic Honor Roll

Depree Bowden (Palmetto, Fla.) and Marshae Dotson (Columbus, Ohio) were two of the 48 University of Florida student-athletes who were named to the 2007-08 Southeastern Conference Winter Academic Honor Roll on Wednesday by league commissioner Mike Slive. Florida's 48 SEC Academic Honor Roll recipients is second only to Kentucky's 53.
The 2007-08 SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll is based on grades from the 2007 Spring, Summer and Fall terms.
Bowden, a senior, is a four-time honoree by the SEC for her work in the classroom, while Dotson, a junior, is a three-time recipient.
The Gator women's swimming and diving team's 22 honorees was the league's highest number reported by any sport on the spring list. Florida The SEC Student-Athlete of the Year was a Gator in two sports (Rebekah Zaiser/gymnastics and Kevin Nead/men's swimming).
To be recognized to the SEC Academic Honor Roll, each student-athlete must 1) have a GPA of 3.00 for either the preceding academic year or have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above at the nominating institution; 2) be on scholarship, a letterwinner or have participated on a varsity team for two years if non-scholarship; 3) have completed 24 semester hours of non-remedial credit at the nominating institution; and 4) have been a member of the varsity team for the sport's entire NCAA Championship segment.
