Baseball's den Dekker Earns NCAA Regional All-Tourney Honors

Sophomore center fielder Matt den Dekker (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) was chosen to the NCAA Tallahassee Regional All-Tournament squad announced on Monday night. The Gators (34-24) finished 0-2 at the event after falling to Tulane and Florida State. The top-seeded Seminoles advanced to Super Regionals by overpowering the Green Wave, 16-7. Following a 7-0 loss to Bucknell, FSU rolled to four-consecutive victories at Dick Howser Stadium to set up a best-of-three series with Wichita State for a berth at the NCAA College World Series.
A first-team All-SEC selection, as well as a member of the league's inaugural All-Defensive Team, den Dekker went 3-for-4 and scored three runs in Florida's season-ending 17-11 setback on Saturday afternoon. He batted .333 on the campaign with 48 RBI, nine doubles and eight homers and was a perfect 20-for-20 on stolen-base opportunities. den Dekker notched five outfield assists and committed just one error for a .994 fielding percentage. In SEC play, he had a .351 clip, was second on the club with 24 RBI and swiped 12 bags.
