Six Gators finish in the top-45 at the Players Amateur

Six Gators turned in top-45 finishes at the Players Amateur last weekend in Bluffton, S.C. Five of the players finished the tournament under par, lead by rising junior Tim McKenney (Scottsdale, Ariz.) who shot a four-day total of 268 (-12) to finish in fifth place.
McKenney held the 36-hole lead after shooting rounds of 69 and 64 on the first two days. He completed all four rounds under par as he carded rounds of 67 and 68 over the weekend.
Incoming freshman Mu Hu (Orlando, Fla.) shot a 63 in the final round to finish eight-under (272) for the tournament and tied for 10th place. Tyson Alexander (Gainesville, Fla.), another rising junior, also had four under-par rounds for the tournament and finished tied for 13th at seven-under 273 (69-69-69-66).
Andres Echavarria (Medellin, Colombia) and Toby Ragland (Jacksonville, Fla.) both finished in a four way tie for 33rd place at two-under par (278). Echavarria got back in contention with 66 in each of the final two rounds after shooting 76 and 70 on the first two days. Ragland was consistent throughout the tournament shooting rounds of 70, 70, 71 and 67.
Robbie Wight (Palm Beach, Fla.) shot a final-round 69 to finish at one-over 281 for the tournament in a tie for 41st.
The Players Amateur is a premier amateur tournament organized by the Heritage Classic Foundation, which also controls the Verizon Heritage PGA Tour event. The winner of the Players Amateur receives a spot in the following year's Verizon Heritage event.
