Ashlee Elliott Scores Opening Goal but Slammers Lose 2-1 in US Youth Soccer National U-19 Final

Rising University of Florida junior Ashlee Elliott scored the opening goal of US Youth Soccer National Under-19 championship match Sunday, but her Slammers Futbol Club of California eventually fell 2-1 to the Force Football Club of Michigan.
Elliott scored in the seventh minute for the Slammers, providing the only goal of the opening half. But the Force scored twice in the final 13 minutes to take the win and their second consecutive national title. Sunday's match was a rematch of last's year national U-18 final. The Force took the 2007 U-18 title with a 6-5 penalty kicks advantage over the Slammers.
This is the third consecutive year a Gator has been in the US Youth Soccer National under-19 championship match. Last year, Lauren Hyde was part of the Carmel United Soccer Club Cyclones team that took the title in Frisco, Texas. In 2006, Ameera Abdullah was a member of the Colorado Rush's U-19 championship team.
