University of Florida men's golf head coach Buddy Alexander announced the hiring of former Gator Steve Bradley as the new assistant coach on Wednesday.
“I'm excited to have Steve back, he was always one of my favorite players,” said coach Alexander. “He's a great competitor and he's going to bring a great personality and enthusiasm to our program.”
Bradley, a former captain of the men's golf team, transferred to UF from Florida State in 1997 and spent two seasons with the Gators before graduating in 1999. He had two top-10 finishes during his senior year and helped lead the Gators to the Southeastern Conference Championship title. He was named a second-team All-SEC performer during his junior year in 1997-98. His best collegiate finish came at the 1998 Morris Williams Intercollegiate when he was the runner-up.
Before transferring to UF, Bradley led Florida State with five top-20 finishes during his sophomore year. As an amateur, Bradley won the 1996 Florida State Amateur title and qualified for the 1994 U.S. Amateur.
“This is a great opportunity for me,” said Bradley. “It's been a dream of mine and I'm honored and privileged to come back and work for Buddy and be part of Gator Nation again. It's something I've been passionate about and I'm looking forward to getting to work and hopefully bring a championship back.”
He is originally from Ocala, where he was an All-State selection at Forest High School and led his team to the 1994 Florida State Championship.
