Softball Announces Fall and Winter Camp Dates
Thursday, August 28, 2008 | Softball
The Florida softball program will host fall and winter camps starting in October. Led by head coach Tim Walton and assistant coaches Jennifer Rocha and Jenny Gladding, campers will have the opportunity to hone their fielding, hitting and pitching skills from a coaching staff that guided the Gators to an NCAA record-setting 70-win season.
Members of the 2008 Gator softball team will also be on hand to assist in the learning process. The camps begin in October and will be conducted right where the Gators practice and play. The Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium is located at the corner of Hull and Museum roads on the University of Florida campus.
Players aged eight to 18 can participate in four different camps. On Oct. 4, the Gators will run an infield and catchers' camp, which will focus on specific fielding positions. The camp will include drills to help with footwork, defensive approach and throwing mechanics.
Players can also participate in a hitting camp on the same day. This clinic will feature instruction of the fundamentals of hitting and drills to enhance swings, both for the advanced and beginning batter.
On Dec. 20, the Gators will hold a pitching camp, which will include instruction on the mechanics and movement pitches for both beginners and advanced pitchers. There is also the choice of a two-day hitting camp on Dec. 20 and 21.
Registration dates are forthcoming, but please visit http://www.gatorzone.com/camps/?sport=softb to learn more about the Gator Softball Camps.
