Florida Soccer Player Katie Fraine Receives Two Additional National Team of the Week Honors
Wednesday, September 10, 2008 | Soccer
Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Katie Fraine picked up two additional national team of the week honors following the University of Florida's 1-0 upset win at then-No. 4 Florida State on Sunday. Fraine added the Soccer America and the SoccerBuzz.com Elite Team of the Week honors on Tuesday. She was named to the TopDrawer Soccer.com National Team of the Week on Monday. In addition, Fraine also was named the SoccerFla.com Player of the Week.
Fraine (Titusville, Fla./Titusville H.S.) turned in a career-best seven saves Sunday at Florida State. Fraine patrolled her box throughout the match, ending several Seminole chances off corner kicks and making some spectacular diving saves to help preserve the Gators' first shutout of 2008. The win was UF's first versus a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) top-four team since the 1-0 2OT win at then No. 3 UCLA in 2001 NCAA Quarterfinal action. These are the first national team of the week honors of Fraine's Gator career.
