Monday, September 8, 2008 | Men's Swimming & Diving
Associate head coach Anthony Nesty shared his 2008 Olympic experience with the media on Monday morning as part of the Gators' All Sports Media Day.
Coach Nesty, who was a three-time Olympian himself in 1984, 1988 and 1992, was the head coach of his native-Suriname's 2008 Olympic Swimming Team. He also was honored by being selected to carry Suriname's flag during the Opening Ceremonies.
Nesty fielded questions regarding how he was selected to carry Suriname's flag and that experience, in addition to talking about the success the Gators enjoyed at the 2008 Olympic Games and specifically on former Gators Ryan Lochte and Dara Torres, who were two of the biggest stories in Beijing.
Nesty, who swam at UF from 1989-92, won the gold medal in the 100-fly at the 1988 Games and captured the bronze medal in the 200-fly in 1992.
