Football's Watkins and South Team Win 2009 Under Armour Senior Bowl

Former Florida offensive lineman Jason Watkins (Lakeland, Fla.) represented the University of Florida in the 2009 Under Armour Senior Bowl at Ladd-Peebles Stadium on Saturday evening. Watkins and the South team defeated the North squad, 35-18, marking the second-consecutive win for the South.
In addition to Watkins, the South team featured 13 athletes from the Southeastern Conference: Mike Wallace, Ashlee Palmer, Michael Oher and Peria Jerry of Ole Miss; John Parker Wilson, Rashad Johnson, Antoine Caldwell and Travis McCall of Alabama; Jonathan Luigs of Arkansas; Tyronne Green of Auburn; Herman Johnson of LSU; Corvey Irvin of Georgia and Tennessee's Robert Ayers.
Watkins, a team captain of the 2008 squad, started at right tackle for every game for the national champion Gators. The senior earned AP All-SEC Honorable Mention recognition and appeared in 52 games for Florida, including 28 starts on the offensive line. Watkins started every game at left tackle in 2007, helping the Gators rush for a season total of 2,602 yards and 39 touchdowns. He is on track to receive his bachelor's degree in Family, Youth & Community Sciences in May.
The Senior Bowl features the country's best senior collegiate football stars and top NFL Draft prospects on teams representing the North and South which are coached by the entire coaching staffs from two National Football League teams.
