The University of Florida women's golf team will conclude its 2009 fall slate in Las Vegas, Nev. at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown, hosted by UNLV. The Gators will tee off at the par-72, 6,233-yard Boulder Creek Country Club on Monday through Wednesday.
The Gators will send a lineup consisting of one junior, two sophomores and two freshman to Las Vegas. Freshman Isabelle Lendl (Bradenton, Fla.) is making her second appearance for the Gators this fall, as is junior Jessica Yadloczky (Casselberry, Fla.). Lendl is coming off her top-10 finish at the Mercedes-Benz Women's Collegiate Championship where she finished in a tie for eighth in her collegiate stroke play debut for the Gators.
The squad will look to Evan Jensen (Belleair, Fla.) to lead the team, as the sophomore leads the squad in stroke average through three events this fall. Sophomore Marika Lendl (Bradenton, Fla.) and freshman Amelia Lewis (Jacksonville, Fla.) will be making their debuts in a stroke play tournament this week as the two participated in the first event of the year, the Hooters Match Play Women's Championship.
For the second-straight tournament, the Gators are the only team representing the Sunshine State and will join Arkansas as the only SEC schools in Las Vegas. The entire tournament field is as follows: Arizona, Arkansas, BYU, Colorado, Colorado State, Florida, Idaho, Kent State, Louisville, Minnesota, Missouri, Northwestern, TCU, Texas Tech, UC Davis, UNLV and Washington.
