On the upcoming game versus Georgia:
“Georgia has great receivers, including one of the best in the nation. He has the ability to go up and over us, like he did last year. We have to find a way defend him and not be so concerned about him [that] they can run the ball. Offensively, we will need to do a better job in some areas. We were not good on third downs and red zone production. We will spend time on those things early this week.”
On the pressure to play perfect:
“We haven't played many perfect games around here in five years. You can find faults with everything. It seems like every week we say, 'If we just do this or just do that.' We are just going to improve our weakness and get ready for a very talented team.”
On Joe Haden and Janoris Jenkins:
“Those are two of the best corners I have ever had the privilege to be around. I have great confidence in them. Their ability level is one thing, but their attention to detail is what separates them. There are a lot of players who can run fast and jump high, but they work really hard. Today is their day off. and I know they will come in to study stance, splits and the passing game.”
On putting the team in a position to succeed:
“When you have good people looking you right in the eyes, you want to give them good right back. That's what Charlie Strong and Steve Addazio and our staff want. You want guys to have great opportunities to be successful. At times, I don't know that we've done that. We've got to do a better job at that.”
On the best part of his job:
“The best part of my job is that I love our guys. Coaches rarely get a chance to walk around and really admire the players they are coaching.”

On his level of frustration right now:
“That's hard to say because we're 7-0. We're getting wins, we're moving the ball, and we're moving at ease, pretty much up and down the field. Then we're just having struggles with things we really haven't had struggles with so it's kind of new and it is frustrating. I'm not going to lie to you and say it's not frustrating because obviously I want to score every time we get in the red zone. The turnovers are frustrating. Just things that we're not used to doing, and so that is frustrating and we're working on it. I think it could possibly be a good thing because it could give us a little bit of an edge of 'Hey, you know we haven't arrived. We still have a lot of work to do.' That's something to really motivate us because that's not us, that's not the way we normally play and it's really frustrating.”
On the pressure to be perfect:
“I don't think it's getting to me. Do I have a lot of pressure on me? Do I put pressure on me? Yeah. I mean, I put a lot more pressure on me than y'all could possibly put on me. So I don't think that's getting to me, just wanting to excel and wanting everything to be right. Yeah, that is frustrating not doing it, but I think that would be every year and not just this year.”
On if they are just a play away from correcting their red zone problems:
“If you honestly look at the film, you'll see we moved the ball every possession and drove it right down the field. We get to the red zone and do something kind of stupid, and it costs us the drive. We've got to fix those little mistakes. They're very costly. It's the little things we've got to work on and get right.”
On tying Herschel Walker's SEC career rushing touchdown record:
“It has been an honor to even be mentioned with Herschel. It is very humbling and I'm sure when I sit back and think about I'll realize how cool it is. To be able to break the record against Georgia would be extra-special. I met him at the 25th year anniversary of winning the Heisman Trophy. He's a great motivational speaker and was so much fun to talk to. He's a great guy, and it was very special to meet him and spend some time with him.”
