Noticeably absent from Monday's practice was UF head coach Amanda Butler, who underwent successful surgery late in the morning to repair a ruptured left Achilles tendon.
The procedure was performed by team physician and orthopaedist Dr. Mike Moser at the Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Institute in Gainesville.
Coach Butler's injury occurred Saturday morning, when she was quarterbacking her then-undefeated flag football team in The Swamp Bowl, the name given to the playoff round of the on-campus league event. It was a non-contact injury and happened when she stepped backward at the start of a play.
An MRI on Sunday confirmed the extent of the injury, but did not prevent Coach Butler from attending the Backcourt Club's annual membership drive event or the team's practice that went from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The Gators are off on Tuesday, but scheduled to practice Wednesday afternoon. Coach Butler was released from OSMI Monday evening and is planning to spend Tuesday at home resting and attend practice as usual beginning Wednesday.
