There were 27 former University of Florida football players on rosters for the fourth week of play in the National Football League. Thirteen players earned starting positions, while 24 saw action.
Rookie Notes:
Louis Murphy (Oakland Raiders) continues to be the favorite target for quarterback Jamarcus Russell. The rookie leads the team in reception yards and touchdowns this season. Nine of Murphy's 11 receptions have gone for first downs, third-best among rookie receivers. He ranks fifth among rookies in receiving yards (172) and seventh in receptions (11).
Percy Harvin's (Minnesota Vikings) 14 catches ranks second among rookies and his two receiving touchdowns ranks first. He also has 11 catches for first downs, second-most among rookies. His average of 31.5 yards per kickoff return ranks second in the NFL and he is one of three players to return a kickoff for a touchdown this season.
NFL Gator Stats – Week 4
· DE Alex Brown, Chicago – started at defensive end and had 4 tackles, one sack, and two QB hurries in a 48-24 victory over Detroit
· WR Andre Caldwell, Cincinnati – caught two passes for 26 yards, rushed for 11 yards and returned four kickoffs for 71 yards to help defeat Cleveland 23-20
· OT Cooper Carlisle, Oakland – started at right guard in Oakland's 29-6 loss to Houston
· LB Channing Crowder, Miami – started at inside linebacker for the Dolphins and had three tackles in Miami's 38-10 win over division rival Buffalo
· LB Andra Davis, Denver – started at inside linebacker and led the team with nine tackles in the Broncos 17-10 win over the Dallas Cowboys
· WR Jabar Gaffney, Denver – had one reception for eight yards against Dallas
· RB Earnest Graham, Tampa Bay – rushed for eight yards on five carries and also caught two passes for nine yards in the Bucs 16-13 loss to the Washington Redskins
· QB Rex Grossman, Houston – DNP
· DE Derrick Harvey, Jacksonville – started at defensive end, making three tackles and two quarterback hurries
· WR Percy Harvin, Minnesota – had two receptions for 39 yards and returned three kickoffs for 52 yards in the Vikings' win over Green Bay on Monday Night Football
· DE Jevon Kearse, Tennessee – started at left defensive end, but did not record a stat
· S Marquand Manuel, Detroit –had two tackles in the loss to Chicago
· DE Bobby McCray, New Orleans – registered two tackles in the Saints 24-10 victory over the New Jets
· DE Ray McDonald, San Francisco – returned a fumble 11 yards for a touchdown and had one tackles in the 49er's 35-0 win over St. Louis
· DE Jarvis Moss, Denver – was not activated this week versus Dallas
· WR Louis Murphy, Oakland – started and led the team in receiving with three catches for 34 yards
· S Reggie Nelson, Jacksonville – started at free safety and recorded six tackles and a fumble recovery in the win over Tennessee; the Jaguars scored on the ensuing drive
· LB Mike Peterson, Atlanta – the Falcons had a bye week
· CB Keiwan Ratliff, Pittsburgh – registered two tackles in Pittsburgh's 38-28 win over the San Diego Chargers
· CB Lito Sheppard, N.Y. Jets – due to injured quadriceps was not activated for the Jets' first loss of the season to New Orleans
· LB Brandon Siler, San Diego – made two tackles in the Sunday night game versus Pittsburgh
· OT Max Starks, Pittsburgh – started at left tackle for the Steelers, who netted 497 yards of total offense
· RB Fred Taylor, New England – led the Patriots with 25 rushing yards on seven carries and contributed in the receiving game with 13 yards; New England won 27-21 over Baltimore
· DT Marcus Thomas, Denver – played but did not record a stat versus the Cowboys
· OT Phil Trautwein, Cleveland – did not play in the Browns 20-23 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals
· DT Gerard Warren, Oakland – started and recorded fours tackles; including a sack and two other tackles for loss
· RB DeShawn Wynn, Green Bay – registered two rushes for ten yards and had one reception for 11 yards in the Packers' loss to Minnesota
