The University of Florida men's basketball team upgraded its roster for the 2010-11 season, receiving national letters of intent from power forward Patric Young (Jacksonville, Fla.) and small forward Casey Prather (Jackson, Tenn.).
“We're very excited that both Patric and Casey have chosen the University of Florida,” said head coach Billy Donovan. “They're two really talented players that bring athleticism and the competitive mindset we're looking for.”
The 6-9, 225-lb Young averaged 15.0 points and 12.0 rebounds per game a year ago at Paxon High School, before transferring to Providence School of Jacksonville for his senior year.
Young is ranked as the fifth overall power forward in the nation by both Scout.com and Rivals.com and is listed as a five-star recruit for both.
“Patric gives us size, strength and a physical presence in our frontcourt and plays with great passion and energy,” said Donovan.
Prather, a 6-5 swingman from Jackson North Side High School, averaged 24.4 points per game and 14.0 rebounds last season. He averaged 28.0 points per game as a sophomore and is ranked as the 10th overall small forward in the nation according to Scout.com.
“Casey gives us an athletic wing that can defend, he's a very good passer and improves our length on the perimeter,” said Donovan.
