University of Florida softball head coach Tim Walton signed a third player to the 2010-11 class, Winter Haven, Fla., native, Hannah Rogers. Rogers joins Kasey Fagan (Dunnellon, Fla.) and Cheyenne Coyle (West Hills, Calif.), who also signed National Letters of Intent to play at Florida.
“We're excited to add Hannah to our signing class,” Walton said. “She is a very accomplished player with a bright future. She has been a Gator her whole life and we're thrilled she'll be wearing the Orange and Blue next year.”
Rogers, a 5-foot-11-inch pitcher for Lake Wales High School, led the Highlanders to the 2007 Class 4A state title, the 2008 4A Regional title and one state championship finals appearance in 2009, where they fell short to Dunnellon High School, Fagan's team. The senior is a three-time all-state and all-county first-team selection and was a finalist for Florida's Gatorade Pitcher of the Year last season while being named the Class 4A Pitcher of the Year by Miracle Sports. She also earned 2009 EA Sports Softball All-American second-team status, was a Winter Haven News Chief's pick for Pitcher of the Year in 2008 and 2009 and was named Lakeland Ledger Player of the Year every season since her freshman campaign.
Rogers also pitches for the Gold Coast Hurricanes coached by Marty Cooper, which won the Amateur Softball Association of America (ASA) title in 2008 and finished second at the gold nationals in 2009. Rogers got to know some of the current Gators, playing with sophomore Michelle Moultrie (Jacksonville, Fla.) and freshmen Samantha Holle (Tampa, Fla.) and Kelsey Horton (Valrico, Fla.).
The Florida native is also a member of the Future Christian Athletes and the Young Leaders of America.
