Four Gators Named to NSCAA All-South Region Soccer Teams

Four University of Florida players appear on National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-South Region teams, the outlet announced today.
Two Gators – senior Lauren Hyde (Carmel, Ind.) and junior Katie Fraine (Titusville, Fla.) – are All-South Region first-team selections. Sophomore Lindsay Thompson (Bradenton, Fla.) appears on the region's second team while freshman Erika Tymrak (Lakewood Ranch, Fla.) is a third-team selection.
Earlier this fall, Hyde became the first Gator to pick up the SEC Defensive Player of the Year award since the league began naming an offensive and defensive player of the year in 2004. She made her fourth appearance on an All-SEC team as a senior (first team in 2006, 2007 & 2009; second team in 2008) – joining former Gators Danielle Murphy and Abby Wambach as the other Florida players to earn a spot on an All-SEC team each year. Hyde was a second-team selection to the 2009 TopDrawerSoccer.com Team of the Season. She played the entirety of 17 matches in 2009 and finished her UF career with 78 complete matches played – a record for UF field players.
Fraine is the first Gator goalkeeper to earn NSCAA All-South Region first-team honors and only the second in the program's 15-year history to appear on a region team (Jordan Kellgren, 2002 second team). She was an All-SEC first team selection in early November and named goalkeeper for the first team on TopDrawerSoccer.com National Team of the Season. She led the SEC with her goals-against-average of 0.61 in league play. Fraine registered a career-high 10 shutouts in 2009. She shared the 2009 lead in shutouts in SEC matches (6) with LSU's Mo Isom.
Thompson led Florida with her career-high totals for goals (10), game-winning goals (5) and points (22) in 2009. Thompson started 23 matches at either forward or attacking midfield. She also was named to the All-SEC second team.
Tymrak, one of only two freshmen to earn 2009 NSCAA All-South Region honors, also earned a spot on the SEC All-Freshman team. She led UF with seven assists, which stood second in the SEC for assists in league matches. Tymrak was third among the Gators with 17 points and fifth with five goals. In November, Tymrak was named a second-team selection for TopDrawerSoccer.com's Rookie Team of the Season.
During the 2009 season, Florida turned in a record of 16-6-2 and won its fourth consecutive SEC title with its 8-1-2 league record. The Gators earned its 13th NCAA Championship berth in 2009, advancing to the NCAA Second Round.
