Calathes Reaches 1,000-Point Mark In Career Night At Rupp
Wednesday, February 11, 2009 | Men's Basketball
On a lay-up with 4:36 remaining in Tuesday night's game with Kentucky, sophomore guard Nick Calathes became the 43rd member of the University of Florida's 1,000-point club.
Calathes entered the game with 969 points and posted a career-high 33 points on the evening. He reached the mark in the eighth fewest games in school history and became the fastest Billy Donovan-coached player ever to 1,000 points.
He is the first Gator to reach 1,000 points since UF's entire 2007 starting lineup of Taurean Green, Lee Humphrey, Corey Brewer, Joakim Noah and Al Horford all reached the mark within a month of one another.
He is the 14th player of the Billy Donovan era to reach 1,000 points.
