Tuesday, March 31, 2009 | Football
Florida football head coach Urban Meyer will hold a book signing on Saturday, April 18, to benefit the University's Florida Opportunity Scholars program, the University of Florida Foundation announced on Tuesday.
From 8 to 9 a.m. that day, the same day as Gator football's Orange & Blue Spring Game, Meyer will be on hand at Gate 1 of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium signing copies of Urban's Way, the authorized biography by Buddy Martin.
The book will cost $25, with all sales and additional contributions going to the Florida Opportunity Scholars program, which provides scholarships to UF students who are the first in their family to attend college and who come from lower-income households.
The book signing event is co-sponsored by St. Martin's Press and GatorCountry.com.
This year, there are 1,100 Florida Opportunity Scholars who would not be able to attend without this essential funding, which covers room and board, books and other living expenses. The program has an annual cost of $8 million.
