WBB: Quientella Bonner Honored as Part of 2009 SEC Greats Program

Featuring former outstanding student-athletes from all 12 Southeastern Conference member institutions, the 2009 class of the SEC Greats program will be honored at the SEC Women's Basketball Tournament March 5-8 at Alltel Arena in North Little Rock, Ark.
Quientella Bonner, who played in 102 games during her collegiate tenure (1976-79, 1980-81), is one of the original “Gator Greats.”
Bonner's name remains prominent in Florida's all-time basketball record book and is still among the program's career leader for several statistical categories, including No. 1 for rebounds (1,321), while ranking No. 2 for blocked shots (230), No. 2 for scoring average (17.6 ppg), No. 2 for rebound average (12.9 rpg) and No. 5 for scoring (1,789).
Her 31 rebounds against Georgia Southern on Jan. 8, 1977 remains as the all-time SEC single-game record, while her 45-point effort versus UT Chattanooga on Jan. 22, 1977 is still Florida's all-time single-game record.
Bonner, who was a 5-foot-11 forward/center fro Pensacola, Fla., was inducted into UF's Athletics Hall of Fame in 1998.
Each honoree will be introduced during half-time of their teams first game of the tournament, all 12 individuals will also be introduced as a group between games of the second session on Friday, March 6. The Greats will then participate in an autograph session on the concourse before game eight.
